Jangan Lewatkan: Europe On Screen 2008!

Anda suka nonton film-film festival? Atau, Anda ingin nonton film-film yang gayanya 'beda dari Hollywood'? Sekarang waktunya untuk Europe On Screen 2008! Seperti tahun lalu, paling nggak, di festival ini kita bisa dapat referensi budaya Eropa dengan konflik-konfliknya. Festival Film Eropa (Europe on Screen/EOS) digelar kembali untuk yang kedelapan kalinya dengan tema City Landscapes and Urban Visions. Enam film pendek terbaik Eropa serta 15 film pendek Indonesia juga turut meramaikan EOS 2008 kali ini. Total pemutaran 34 film pilihan tersebut bersifat gratis! Dan tiketnya dapat diperoleh di masing-masing lokasi 45 menit sebelum acara dimulai.

EOS 2008 akan diselenggarakan di Jakarta pada tanggal 24-31 Oktober 2008. Pemutarannya akan dilakukan di lima tempat yaitu Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Centre Culturel Français, GoetheHaus, Erasmus Huis, dan khusus acara pembukaan festival di Blitz Megaplex. EOS 2008 juga akan melakukan pemutaran film di 8 kota di luar Jakarta pada tanggal 1 - 22 November 2008 bekerja sama dengan mitra-mitra seperti LIP Yogyakarta, CCCL Surabaya, Alliance Français Denpasar, CCF Bandung, Widya Mitra & Importal Semarang, Rumah Ide Makassar, Europe House Banda Aceh, serta Fotografi USU Medan. Jalan Keberhasilan Mimpi Laskar Pelangi

"Thank God I chose the right people to produce and direct the movie. I already cried just from seeing the trailer," Andrea told The Jakarta Post. "This is not a children's book, but a book about children. It's an irony about a lack of access to education for children in one of the world's wealthiest islands."

Bersiaplah untuk nonton film Laskar Pelangi besutan Riri Riza dan produser Mira Lesmana, yang diadaptasi dari buku superlaris karya Andrea Hirata. Tanggal 25 September ini Laskar Pelangi, yang juga didukung oleh Kick Andy, sudah beredar di bioskop terdekat. Menimbang kisah bukunya yang sukses banget, bisa jadi antrian ala Ayat-ayat Cinta bakal kembali memeriahkan bioskop-bioskop. Kabarnya memang, film ini akan di putar di layar tancep juga! Atau mungkin, kalau jaman orde silam, film ini bisa diwajibnontonkan ke semua ya, seperti Pengkhianatan G.30.S/PKI.

Setidaknya ada dua belas anak asli Pulau Belitong berakting bersama dalam film yang menceritakan perjuangan murid dan guru dalam memperoleh pendidikan di masa tahun 1970-an. Ini masih ditambah jajaran senior seperti Ikranegara, Slamet Rahardjo, Alex Komang, Jajang C Noer, Mathias Muchus dan Robbie Tumewu, serta Tora Sudiro, Rieke Dyah Pitaloka dan Cut Mini. Terlepas dari para pendukung film, Laskar Pelangi sendiri adalah kisah perjalanan keberhasilan mimpi. Mimpi anak-anak tahun 70'an di Belitong; mimpi perubahan nasib yang dibukukan; mimpi yang berhasil menyentuh banyak hati dan membukakan tabir kesadaran banyak orang yang terpacu dunia materialis; mimpi yang menyingkap borok dunia pendidikan Indonesia yang hingga kini tetap belum sepenuhnya terbenahi; mimpi yang dibicarakan, didiskusikan, dibahas di berbagai blog dan media, dan kini difilmkan; mimpi yang akan terus berjuang karena niat tulus yang berawal dari penghargaan dan syukur seorang murid pada ibu gurunya. Rekomendasi NOMAT

Kalau Anda belum nonton, coba pilih The Dark Knight untuk tontonan malam ini. Saya nonton Sabtu kemarin di PI Mall 2. Buat saya, film ini justru menonjol karena aksi Joker (Heath Ledger). Sinis, tengil, cerdik, dan Heath begitu mantap menjiwai peran. Film aksi Hollywood ini benar-benar memanjakan imajinasi, dan sanggup melontarkan kita ke dalam kegelisahan masyarakat dan konflik di Gotham City, sambil mengagumi pesona Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) yang tampil bak James Bond. Workshop Batman yang spacious dan trendy dengan entrance hidrolik yang dan pencahayaan ruangan yang elegan, apartment yang memperkaya referensi mimpi, mobil dan motor yang canggih dan siap dihancurkan begitu saja ... semuanya ada.



Kalau anda sedang tak menginginkan kehebatan Hollywood, pilih Taken yang tayang di Blitz. Saya menyaksikannya Rabu lalu untuk membuktikan, kalau film ini sanggup mengungguli Angelina Jolie dalam Wanted. Dan saya setuju. Jalinan cerita yang kuat memikat, dan karakter Liam Neeson yang pas dalam film ini membuat aksi menegangkan ini wajib masuk dalam daftar rekomendasi. Ok, selamat nonton!

Zinnen als ‘the guy had funky tasting spunk‘ kunnen hier ook gewoon. Enige verschil: de zaal lag elke keer in een deuk als er zoenende mannen in beeld waren.

Being a country with the biggest Moslem's population, is quite an image. But somehow it’s become a sort of responsibility. Many with concerns would do their best to save the nation’s integrity and moral standard. Eyes of the nation are on the movie industry, although the days of sensual, erotic, and bed-sizzling Indonesian movies that appeared in the late 80s and early 90s are over. Apparently, censoring movies, banning, even street demonstrating by certain religion or student association movement are all done in several cases. One would said it's annoying and wasting time. Changing the channel, or just get the next show will be the suggestion to mind. Let me quote Indonesian Dream's thought of movie banning case as an extra insight.

"I also find it very funny with the fact that overseas erotic movies can freely enter the mainstream media of Indonesia with ease, but a copy version with local taste is treated with fury. Doesn’t it defeat the purpose?"

Being said that Indonesian youths are already morally corrupted in every way, is such a moral tragedy. I am not a moralist, I think. Yet I have no objection to the idea of keeping moral standard, to save the integrity and moral of young Indonesians. Someone should do this. We are not talking about the older generation integrity and moral here anyway. Unfortunately I do not see this effort done essentially, structurally, and continuously. Having the censorship institution doing their job is indeed not enough. Clear guidance (rules) on public performances is important, for the audience and the entertainment workers itself. But obviously age restriction is not enough believed to protect the Nation’s youth. Or is it being common that people couldn’t judge things as it should be and react maturely? What so funny is that many who criticize did not watching the controversial movie yet. Silly but true.

I don’t know why not village elders or the religious leaders taking control of their congregation. Those could teach them for God’s sake, right? And moreover making sure if they are understood and passing the normal-behaviour-tendency-of reactions-test (is there any such things?). Yes, moral and integrity are values come from within. Ironically people are proud to show off values they believe rather than working their faith personally. It is more important to have an image, than to hold a real value. Mall Holiday ‘08

Time of the year to host relatives arriving from Kampung! School holiday festivities is in in the capital. Going to the next grade or not, it is time for most children to have fun (on their own way). Some parents showing their relieve-faces for knowing that school these days is not mentioning ranking in the students report. No secret that student’s achievement is parent’s pride.

So, many choices to visit this time, include shopping malls have their holiday program: Marvel’s heroes characters conquering Grand Indonesia (plus the NewYork NewYork hourly show!), Japanese Doraemon showcasing in Plaza Semanggi, giant Panda Po of Kungfu Panda (looks so real!) does Mal Ciputra Jakarta, etc. Pretty impressive work of artistic teams out there. Should you interested to visit and have some poses with your cam-phone, it turned out to be a trend. “So ordinary people style,” remember San Chai. It’s cheap, though you will spend some for meals or coffees. Indeed it is so Jakarta, that you don’t have to break your belief for not to be exposed under the sun.



While you're at the mall, why don’t you watch a movie? My recommendation for the kids are: Kung Fu Panda and Incredible Hulk of course. You wouldn't think Dewi Persik suit to their need, right? And for you, err … Sex and the City? I think so, you will love Carrie even better in her Vivienne Westwood. For sure it means to treat your eyes and soul. Oh well, at least I do. It is a feels good hollywood movie.
